The CL 5th graders enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day on September 17th at the Buckskinner Encampment in Hartford. The students learned about what early life was like for the Early American Fur Traders.

Lace-up your sneakers! The fall portion of the County Line Marathon kicks off Mon Sept 27th through Fri Oct 8th. We invite all students to run or walk laps on the County Line field during lunch recess each day. Students can participate for anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes daily to earn credit towards a half marathon (150 minutes total across fall and spring) or full marathon (300 total minutes). There will be prizes and recognition for half and full marathon finishers, and we look to sparking some fun competition between classes for prizes as well! Dress in comfortable shoes, layers, and your smiles. Let's get moving!

Please send any used markers ready to be discarded to school with your child. Collection bins are located in all classrooms. Any brand and kind — regular, dry erase, highlighter — are accepted for recycling even if they have no caps. Crayola recycles the markers into wax compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles as well as for use in generating electricity. Every small step helps our earth!

Parents, please be sure to pack an extra set of clothes in your student’s backpacks. During the spring, the recess grounds are often wet and muddy. A dry, clean outfit might be the change they need after an encounter with a muddy puddle.
