Warhawk Pride / Vol. 5, No. 1

Mark your calendars for Dramatic Impact's first show of the year from November 4-6!  Clue will be the play.

Come on out and celebrate former GHS standout student-athletes as they are inducted into Germantown's Wall of Fame on Friday, September 16th at 6:30pm at the Stadium!

Congratulations to the Summer Speed, Strength, and Conditioning Athletes of the Week! These athletes were selected to represent the group based on their hard work and dedication. Owen Zunker, Gavin Ewert, Alaina Williams, Erin Tonneson, Taylor Yegge, Ruben Ashlock, Griffin Stein, Morgan Jacobson, Brady Konzal, Nathan Brock, Avery Dunlap, Leslie Lemanczyk, Alec Greenmeier, Robbie Gaertner, Brady Vance, and Aiden Crowley.

Congratulations to Bella Gelhaar who competed in the International Powerlifting Federation World Championships on August 29th!  Bella is only the second athlete in Germantown Powerlifting history to compete in the World Championships and is one of only 9 in the country that was selected to represent the United States in the Women's Equipped Sub-Junior category.  She did amazingly by placing second in the squat, bench, deadlift, and total. Not only was Bella successful individually, but she was also a part of the Women's Sub-Junior Powerlifting America team that won in a landslide victory over Poland with a perfect 60 points to their 45. Once again, congratulations to Bella on an absolutely amazing season! We can't wait to see what her senior season will bring!

Congratulations to KK Arnold on winning the gold medal at the 3 on 3 World Cup.  HERE is the article!

The Wall of Sound had a productive summer. They had a great start in preparing for the fall competition schedule, football games, and they played in the community as well. Losing a great senior class to graduation is always hard but the work and attitude of the new freshman is a fantastic addition. The leadership provided by the students is vital to the success of the band. This year’s leadership group includes Drum Majors Lexi Pietenpol, Maya Annoye, and Caroline Kamyszek. Section leaders are Chloe Stryker, Rhea Thapar, Dani Martinez, Vali Martinez, Ben Nuchikat, and Rowan Wilson. The Wall of Sound looks forward to performing for everyone very soon!  Below are pictures from Taste of Germantown and Wall of Sound Camp.

The Germantown Warchix have had a great start to their season! During the summer, the team went to Camp at St. Norbert's College where they received 2nd place overall and received the "Sunshine Award" which means they were the most supportive out of all the teams there! Also during Camp, four team members were recognized as "All Stars", these members are Jamie Pagel, Katie Van Fossen, Libby Stroebel and DaVecca Sickler! After Camp, the Warchix went on to compete at "The Midwest Invite" in Schaumburg, Illinois.  They received 2nd on their routines and 3rd overall which allowed them to qualify for Disney in February! The team’s three captains, Jamie Pagel, Katie Van Fossen and Libby Stroebel competed in solos at Midwest.  All three of them were selected as top performers out of the entire Midwest Competition! Senior Jamie Pagel was awarded as 4th out of the entire competition! The Team has had a great start to the season and can't wait to continue with this momentum throughout the school year!

The Germantown Boys’ Cross Country Team had an impressive start to their season at the Brookfield Central High School Grade Level Challenge last Thursday evening with Germantown taking seven of the top eight spots in the junior and senior race. Germantown’s Dillon Walker led the race, placing first with a time of 16:21 followed by Troy VerState in second with a time of 17:57. Taking spots four through eight were Calvin Redeker (18:07), Kobe Chapman (18:15), Will Cascio (18:28), Eric Olson (18:32) and Owen Oertel (18:32). Other junior and senior racers from Germantown finishing in the top 20 include Joey Knopp (19:27) and Nathan Pokorny (19:54).

Germantown’s Jack Wanezek placed first in the freshmen and sophomore race with a time of 17:09. Cooper Walsh took the fourth place overall spot with a time of 18:02. Other freshman and sophomore racers from Germantown finishing in the top 20 include James Goetter (20:16), Matthew Momper (20:41) and Brayden Ebli (20:47).

Germantown will compete at the Leighton Betz Invitational at Greenfield Park in West Allis on Friday, September 2nd.  Good luck!

The Germantown Girls' Cross Country Team got the season off to a great start at the Brookfield Central Age Group Challenge on Thursday, August 25. Even though scores were not kept, the Warhawk runners would have scored well in the two races. This meet sports an age group focus, with the Junior/Senior race and a frosh/sophomore race for both boys and girls. Medals are given to the top 10 in each grade level- the girls came home with 10 medals. Leading the way with a 1st place finish in the sophomore race was Claire Reedy (her time was just seconds off of her personal best). Keira Lorbecki (4th) and Ella Armstrong (5th) were the other sophomore medal winners. In the freshman portion of the race, Germantown had 4 runners with medals. Elise Redeker (2nd), Samyiah Fox (3rd), Elise Olson (9th) and Savannah Wendorf (10th) all ran strong races. This year's group of 10 freshmen has a great work ethic and loads of talent. In the Junior race, Lizzy Liker was 2nd; her time was just seconds off of her personal best performance. She was followed by seniors Erin Fredrickson (4th) and Izzy Mrzyglod (5th) as the final medal winners for the Warhawks. Last year, this was also the team’s first meet of the year - this season 9 of 11 veteran girls ran the 2022 race 44 seconds to 3 minutes faster. Staying healthy with continuing improvement could make this group a top 3 conference contender by the end of the season. We look to be strong and pack well throughout the top 8, and the next 5-6 runners on the JV are hungry for varsity experience.

Good luck to the GHS Football Team as they take on Marquette tonight at Hart Park.  The game will be televised on My 24.  GO GTOWN!

The GHS Football Team also celebrated Parent's Night at their home opener on August 19 against Homestead.

Poms perform at half!
