The Germantown Boys’ Cross Country Team competed at the Arrowhead Invite on Saturday, October 3rd under bright blue skies and ideal racing weather.  After a focused two-week training block the team was excited to put their fitness to the test.  The Germantown Warhawks delivered some excellent results with 9 personal records (PRs) and 5 season best marks!

This year the Arrowhead Invite had a different format with three races:  Varsity, Varsity Reserve, and JV.  In cross country the top five runners score points (low score wins) and the 6th and 7th runners displace scoring runners on other teams.  The new format gave more of the athletes the opportunity to factor into the team scoring in their races.

In the Varsity race the team finished 20th and the top five runners were Vander Hausmann (junior), Emanuel Santiago (sophomore), Ishaan Singh (sophomore), Ben Armstrong (junior), and Will Grimm (sophomore).  Congrats to Emanuel and Ishaan on their PRs!

The team’s youth factored heavily into the scoring in the Varsity Reserve race with the team finishing 19th and the scoring five were Will Reedy (freshman), Evan Paruch (freshman), Amay Desai (senior), Max Goltry (freshman), and Connor McGinty (freshman).  Will, Evan, and Max all had PRs and Amay had a season best mark.

In the JV race the team finished 16th and the top five athletes were Jimmy Zheng (senior), Wyatt Privat (sophomore), Josiah Schmidt (senior), Nathan Schroeder (sophomore), and Gabe Pearman (senior).  Josiah, Gabe, Victor Chang, and Jeremy Santos-Madrid all had PRs and Jimmy, Wyatt, Nathan, and Colin Hecker all had season best marks.

The team raced on Thursday, October 8th at the Port Washington Invite at Tendick Park and then they head Greater Metro Conference Championship Meet is on Friday, October 16th at Rotary Park in Menomonee Falls.
