Boys BBallGermantown Holds Off Brookfield Central, 56–51

Germantown picked up a hard-fought conference win on January 30, edging Brookfield Central 56–51 behind a balanced scoring effort and strong rebounding on both ends of the floor.

Senior guard Cahlil Jones led all scorers with 23 points, shooting an efficient 10-for-19 from the field while pulling down eight rebounds and adding three assists. Jones consistently attacked the lane and helped Germantown control the tempo during key stretches of the game.

Fellow senior JJ Walters delivered a big night from the perimeter, finishing with 22 points on 6-of-14 shooting, including four three-pointers. Walters was also reliable at the free-throw line, knocking down 6 of 8, and contributed a team-high nine rebounds, along with two steals and a block.

Sophomore Jack Olszewski chipped in five points and grabbed four rebounds, while senior Payton Laabs added three points and an assist off the bench. Germantown also benefited from strong work on the glass by Dylan Merryfield, who finished with eight rebounds, helping the Warhawks secure a 34–22 rebounding advantage.

As a team, Germantown shot 41.7% from the field and 38.1% from three-point range, converting 8 of 21 attempts from beyond the arc. While free throws proved challenging at times (8-for-16), Germantown’s defensive effort and timely baskets allowed them to protect the lead down the stretch.

Germantown Rolls Past West Allis Hale, 85–57

Germantown delivered one of its most complete performances of the season on February 3, pulling away early and cruising to an 85–57 victory over West Allis Hale.

Senior leaders JJ Walters and Cahlil Jones paced the offense all night. Walters finished with a game-high 29 points, shooting an efficient 10-of-16 from the floor and 9-of-11 at the free-throw line. He also stuffed the stat sheet with 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks, controlling the game on both ends of the court. 

Jones followed with 25 points, attacking the rim consistently and shooting 12-of-21 from the field. The senior guard added seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block, helping Germantown push the tempo and build a comfortable lead. 

Junior Aidan Bonner provided a spark from the perimeter, knocking down three three-pointers and finishing with nine points, while senior Darrius Peete chipped in nine points on 4-of-6 shooting. Mason Maciejewski added seven points, and senior Payton Laabs contributed three points, four rebounds, and a steal. 

Germantown dominated the glass with a 42–29 rebounding advantage and shot 47.9% from the field as a team. The Warhawks also shared the ball effectively, recording 10 assists, while forcing turnovers and turning defense into offense throughout the night.

Germantown Edges Brookfield East in 74–73 Nail-Biter 

Germantown survived a back-and-forth battle on February 5, escaping with a dramatic 74–73 victory over Brookfield East in one of the most competitive games of the season.

Senior Dylan Merryfield delivered a standout performance, pouring in 22 points on an efficient 8-of-13 shooting, including two three-pointers, and a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the free-throw line. Merryfield was dominant on the glass as well, grabbing 12 rebounds to help Germantown withstand Brookfield East’s late push. 

Senior guard Cahlil Jones added 16 points, along with five steals and three assists, providing constant defensive pressure and steady leadership throughout the game. Darrius Peete chipped in 15 points, attacking the rim and getting to the line frequently, where he converted 6 of 8 free throws.

JJ Walters contributed 11 points and four assists, while Payton Laabs knocked down a key three-pointer and finished with three points, two steals, and an assist. Sophomore Jack Olszewski added four points, and junior Aidan Bonner scored three.  The Warhawks also forced 14 steals, using defensive intensity to create scoring chances in a game that came down to the final possession.

Girls BBallLast Friday the Germantown Girls’ Basketball Team defeated Brookfield Central 68-66. Maddie Stocks hit 6 3-pointers and led the way with 18 points. Teigan Stuve contributed 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the win. 

On Tuesday the Warhawks made a school record 19 3-pointers in a 108-42 victory over West Allis Hale! Eight different players hit trifectas on the evening. Avery O'Brien led the scoring column with 25 points, while Teigan Stuve (21 points), Maddie Stocks (15 points) and Amiah Braxton (11 points) also scored in double figures. Kylee Bell pitched in 7 steals and 5 assists, while Kierta Siegert pulled down 6 offensive rebounds. 

On Thursday the girls dropped an 84-56 decision to Brookfield East. Avery O'Brien (13 points), Macey Burling (12 points) and Taylor Schmidt (9 points) led the scoring for the Warhawks.  

The girls’ basketball team travels to DSHA next Tuesday and finishes up the home portion of the regular season with a Senior Night game on Friday against Menomonee Falls.

GBBGBBGBBGBBGBB-GBBGymnasticsThe Menomonee Falls/Germantown Gymnastics Team celebrated senior night this week and recognized Liliana Trampe, Mackenzie Moss and Captain Carly Olson.  The varsity lost a close meet but JV won with a season high score.  They will be in Middleton this weekend and at West Bend next Wednesday. Good luck!

HockeyThe Lakeshore Lightning Girls' Hockey Team finished its conference season with a 5-2 win over Brookfield on Tuesday and also picked up a 3-2 win on Saturday against non-conference opponent Beaver Dam.  These 2 wins improve the Lightning record to 18-5 with one game remaining.  The 18 wins is the most wins in the history of the Lakeshore program!  Lakeshore hosts Arrowhead in Sectionals on February 19th. HockeySwimLast Saturday the Germantown Boys’ Swim and Dive Team competed in the 2026 Conference Tournament. The Warhawks came in 9th in one of the most talented conferences in the state. The 200 medley relay team of Gabe Garves, Daniel Xu, Tyler Kirsch, and Aiden Kreitzer set a season best with a 1:54.27. Jack Nicol swam a season best 2:25 in the 200 free and a season best in the 100 and 50 free as well with times of 1:03 and 27.2. Amay Desai swam a season best in the 100 free and 50 free with times of 1:04 and 27.1. Isiah Prahl swam a season best in the 200 free, 100 fly, and 100 free with times of 2:11, 1:08.78, and 58.3. Zach Prescott swam a season best in the 100 breaststroke, and 50 free with times of 1:20.55 and 28.79. Edgar Rock swam a season best 29.82 in the 50 free and Jacob Osterbeck swam a season best in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:12. Maddox Prahl swam a season best in the 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle with times of 1:17.9 and 59.4. Tyler Kirsch swam a season best in the 100 fly and 50 freestyle with times of 1:07.79 and 25.07. Daniel Xu swam a season best in the 50 free with a time of 24.72, Aiden Kreitzer swam a season best in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle with times of 24.89 and 57.3. Gabe Garves swam a season best in the 50 freestyle and 100 fly with times of 24.33 and 1:07.97. The men’s 200 freestyle relay also set a season best of 1:40.34. Everyone dropped significant time in their events. They head to sectionals at Waukesha South High School next week to compete for a spot in the state meet. Way to go and good luck Warhawks!

WrestlingGood luck to the Wrestling Team as they complete tonight in the GMC Tournament!

Ski TeamThe MSG Ski Team wrapped up their final regular season race at Little Switzerland, competing against Brookfield Central, Slinger, UBLT, and West Bend High Schools. The Boys Varsity team placed 4th, Girls Varsity placed 3rd, Boys JV Red placed 3rd, and Boys JV Grey placed 4th.  Individual Highlights:  For Varsity Boys: Grayson Butzke earned an impressive 4th place out of 30 racers. And for JV Boys: Justin Sossaman placed 9th out of 30 racers, followed closely by Izaak Zaretzky in 11th, and Evan Kazmierczak in 18th. Both Varsity teams have qualified for the High School State Competition next weekend at Mt. LaCrosse, and the JV Boys have earned their spot at the JV Conference on February 19 at Sunburst.  Let’s continue to cheer on MSG as they head into post-season competition- Go MSG!

ForensicsThis past weekend, the Germantown Forensics Team finished 3rd for medium size schools at the DSHA Forensics Tournament. Congratulations to five team members for winning awards: Sammy Kessler for 1st in Storytelling, Rory Bishop for 2nd in Moments in History, Nick Socha for 2nd in Oratory, James Buchta for 3rd in Moments in History, and Leah Anderson for being a finalist in Special Occasion Speaking.
