PomsPomsPomsPomsPomsBoys BBallGermantown Outlasts Menomonee Falls 65–56 on January 9

Germantown used a balanced offensive attack and strong interior defense to secure a 65–56 victory over Menomonee Falls on January 9, pulling away late to earn a key conference win.

Senior Darrius Peete led all scorers with 22 points, shooting an efficient 9-for-19 from the field. Peete also added seven rebounds and a pair of blocks, setting the tone on both ends of the floor. Fellow senior Cahlil Jones delivered a strong all-around performance, finishing with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, recording a double-double while anchoring the paint.

Germantown shot 46.3 percent from the field as a team and controlled the glass with a 36–27 rebounding advantage, limiting second-chance opportunities for Menomonee Falls. The Warhawks also protected the rim effectively, tallying seven blocks on the night.

Senior JJ Walters contributed eight points and four rebounds, while Jack Olszewski provided a spark off the bench, knocking down two three-pointers on his way to eight points. Cole Reiter was perfect inside, going 4-for-5 from the field and finishing with eight points and five rebounds.

Although Germantown struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 3-for-14 from three-point range, the team made up for it by attacking the basket and getting to the free-throw line. The Warhawks converted 12 of 19 free throws, including several key makes in the final minutes to seal the win.

Boys Basketball Cruises Past Hamilton, 78–42

The boys' basketball team delivered a dominant performance on January 13, rolling past Hamilton with a convincing 78–42 victory. From the opening tip, the team set the tone with efficient offense, strong defensive pressure, and balanced contributions across the lineup.

Senior Cahlil Jones led the scoring explosion with a phenomenal shooting night, pouring in 25 points on a perfect 8-for-8 from the field, including 5-for-5 from beyond the arc, while also knocking down all four free throws. Jones added four assists to cap off an outstanding all-around effort.

The team’s depth was on full display as multiple players reached double figures. Dylan Merryfield added 13 points, six rebounds, and two blocks, while Jack Olszewski chipped in 10 points, attacking the basket and going 6-for-8 from the free-throw line. JJ Walters contributed eight points along with five rebounds, two steals, and a block, helping anchor the defense.

The offense was clicking throughout the night, shooting 46.9% from the field and 37.0% from three-point range. The team also capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 22 of 31 attempts. Ball movement played a key role in the win, as the team totaled 14 assists on 23 made field goals.

Defensively, the team was relentless, forcing turnovers and limiting Hamilton’s scoring opportunities. Eight steals and four blocks helped fuel fast-break chances and kept momentum firmly on their side.

With the decisive win, the boys continue to build confidence and momentum as they move deeper into the season, showcasing both explosive scoring and unselfish team play.

Germantown Falls to Pewaukee 68–58 at Luke Homan Memorial

Germantown battled throughout the night but ultimately came up short in a 68–58 loss to Pewaukee on January 17 at the Luke Homan Memorial.

The Warhawks struggled to find consistency from the perimeter, shooting just 2-of-19 from three-point range (10.5%), which made it difficult to keep pace with Pewaukee down the stretch. Germantown finished the night shooting 36.8% from the field and 58.3% from the free-throw line.

Senior forward Dylan Merryfield led Germantown with a strong all-around performance, scoring 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting while pulling down a team-high 12 rebounds. Merryfield also added a block and a steal, anchoring the Warhawks in the paint.

Senior guard Cahlil Jones paced Germantown in scoring with 15 points, attacking the basket and getting to the free-throw line, where he converted 7-of-9 attempts. Jones also contributed five assists, three steals, and a block in an active night on both ends of the floor.

Senior JJ Walters chipped in 10 points and added two assists and two steals, while sophomore Jack Olszewski scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds off the bench.

Despite winning the rebounding battle 29–27 and forcing 16 Pewaukee turnovers, Germantown couldn’t capitalize enough offensively. Missed opportunities at the free-throw line and limited outside shooting proved costly as Pewaukee maintained control late in the game.

Germantown Edges Wauwatosa East 70–66 in Hard-Fought January 22 Battle

Germantown pulled out a gritty 70–66 win over Wauwatosa East on January 22, leaning on a dominant scoring night from senior Cahlil Jones and timely contributions throughout the lineup to secure the four-point victory.

Jones was the engine for the Warhawks, pouring in a game-high 32 points on an efficient 13-of-17 shooting from the field. The senior guard also knocked down two three-pointers, grabbed seven rebounds, and added five steals, consistently making plays on both ends of the floor when Germantown needed them most.

Dylan Merryfield provided a strong supporting effort with 12 points and six rebounds, while JJ Walters chipped in 14 points, attacking the rim and getting to the free-throw line six times. Jack Olszewski added five points and two assists, and Cole Reiter gave Germantown a lift off the bench with five points on 2-of-3 shooting.

Although Germantown struggled from beyond the arc, finishing just 4-of-22 from three-point range, the Warhawks made up for it with efficiency inside and aggressive defense. Germantown shot 47.3 percent overall and forced key turnovers late, finishing with nine steals and seven blocks as a team.

The game stayed tight throughout, with neither team able to create much separation until the final minutes. Germantown’s ability to convert at the free-throw line down the stretch helped seal the win, as the Warhawks went 14-of-22 from the stripe on the night.
