Germantown Boys Basketball Edges Marquette 55–52
The Germantown Boys' Basketball Team earned a hard-fought 55–52 victory over Marquette University High School on Tuesday, January 6, showcasing balanced scoring and relentless defense.
Senior guard Cahlil Jones led all scorers with an outstanding performance, pouring in 25 points while also pulling down five rebounds. Jones set the tone offensively throughout the night, delivering key baskets when the Warhawks needed them most. Darrius Peete provided strong support, finishing with 13 points to help Germantown maintain its edge in a tightly contested matchup.
Defense proved to be the difference as Germantown’s pressure forced 24 Marquette turnovers. The Warhawks’ defensive effort was led by Dylan Merryfield, JJ Walters, Cole Reiter, Jack Olszewski, and Mason Maciejewski, who consistently disrupted passing lanes and applied ball pressure from start to finish.
Marquette made a late push, but Germantown’s composure at the free-throw line and disciplined defense down the stretch sealed the victory. The win highlighted the Warhawks’ ability to combine scoring depth with team-first defense as they continue their season.

Things done Outside the Team: The Teutonic Force has had a few events already this year unrelated to competition. The events were: the Marquette University Inclusive play for all, a small Lego building challenge at the Germantown Public Library, and the Hour of Code event at Amy Belle Elementary School. Along with that, a lot of progress has been made in the team itself, including a mass reorganization of storage, and significant advancements in programming.
Inclusive play event: The inclusive play event at Marquette University is where people from robotics teams and university students come and help take apart and rebuild toys to be used by children with disabilities. It was a great way to help children in need and learn at the same time.

Library Lego challenge: At the Germantown Library, the team hosted a small event for young children with Legos and coloring books. Anything that the kids could make, they got to bring home. This event was much smaller than the others and was more of a creativity exercise than a competitive challenge.
Amy Belle Hour of code: At Amy Belle Elementary School, the team spoke about programming in a fun way. Instead of having a long lecture, the group instead talked about programming using fun examples of having students telling the team how to pack a school bag, using basic and specific instructions, and afterward gave the students their turn to be the computers to make jelly sandwiches using instructions from their classmates. Along with that, the team showed a video of one of their previous years with the robot “the ringer”.

The GHS Band Program took over 200 students on a trip to Madrid, Spain. They were able to sight-see and immerse themselves in Spanish culture. In addition to Spanish food like paella, they took in a Flamenco Show, toured the Prado Art Museum, Retiro Park, the city of Toledo, El Escorial, the Roman Aqueducts of Toledo, and explored the city of Madrid.
The Band also performed in Madrid. A full house heard the groups play at the Tres Cantos Performing Hall. The final performance was Madrid’s Cabalgata de Reyes. The three Kings bring the presents for all the children on the night of January 5. The nighttime parade is all for the kids. The parade ends with a float of the three kings. Germantown was the only American band in the parade and the audience was thrilled. Many people were even singing along with the group's music. The estimated live crowd was over 500,000 people. It was truly a spectacular event.
