Thursday, August 28th was a beautiful night at Veterans Park by Lake Michigan for the team's first competition of the season. Some of the top ranked teams in the Wisconsin were at the Hoehnke-Hill Milwaukee River Invite and the Germantown boys team finished 5th overall out of 22 teams. Matt Momper (senior) in 15th place; Vander Hausmann (sophomore) in 20th place; and Jack Flynn (junior) in 31st place all earned medals at the race. Liam Paruch (junior) and Ben Armstrong (sophomore) rounded out the scoring runners. Matt Momper, Vander Hausmann, and Liam Paruch all set personal records (PRs) for the 5k distance, which is pretty rare at the first meet of the season. The team had some excellent performances from all of the athletes and they are looking forward to their next competition at the Leighton-Betz Invite at Greenfield Park on Friday, September 5th.
