GHS MusicIt has been a busy week for the music department!

On Saturday, March 9, many band and choir students performed at the WSMA District Solo and Ensemble Festival at Hamilton HS.  140 students performed solos, duets, trios and quartets with 52 entries earning the highest rating. They will go on to the WSMA State Solo and Ensemble Festival in May.

During Spring Break, the band program is traveling to Washington DC. They will visit many of the Smithsonian Museums, the Capitol, the National Aquarium, and the many monuments. Students will see the changing of the guard at Arlington Cemetery. On Sunday, March 24, they perform on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial at 1:00 pm. It will surely be a memorable trip. They have been practicing for this special performance.

March is Music In Our Schools Month. Celebrations occurred in resource periods with concerts for students to attend. The Wind Symphony, Concert Choir, Pep Band/DC Trip Band, and Sol Town showcased their talents. We appreciate all you do for the benefit of Germantown!

Congratulations to Clark Capelle, Kolton Ceman, Arush Chopra, Arjun Chopra, Meghan Dechant, Mason Doll, Emily Foscato, Connor Foscato, Paige Holke, Brooke Jaukobowski, Paige Johnson, Sahejpreet Kaur, Shay Nelson, Hayden Obenaur, Grace Schmechel, Nick Socha for qualifying for the WISDAA State Forensics Competition!

KMS Girls VolleyballKMS Girls’ Volleyball sure had a fun season!  These are pictures from their last game.  The group learned a lot, played different positions and had a blast!

On Tuesday, March 12 the Varsity boys competed in the Oshkosh Invitational.  The team finished in a respectable 8th place out of 22 teams.  Josh Brunner had an excellent performance in the pole vault finishing in 2nd place (13-0).  Troy VerStrate medaled in the 3200m, placing 3rd (10:17.54) and Eric Olson with a 5th place finish (10:30.16).  It was a photo finish for Jack Wanezek in the 800m.  He ended up in 2nd (1:59.76).  Germantown’s 4x200m relay team consisting of Payton Murray, Austin Ribar, Kyle Betz, and Louis Williams placed 8th (1:37.48). On Wednesday, March 13, the JV boys competed in the Homestead Indoor Quad Meet.  Aiden Schelfout got 3rd place in the 400m dash (1:05.42).  Dominic Grossi was right behind him and got 4th (1:06.51).  Hunter Erdman ran a great 800m run by finishing 3rd (2:24.73).  Emerson Feltz finished 4th in the 800m run as well (2:25.06).  Jack Flynn placed 5th in the 1600m run (5:14.82).  Matthew Momper placed 7th in the same race (5:18.99).  Germantown’s 4x400m relay team consisting of Aiden Dykstra, Grant Walsh, Nick Leupi, and Ethan Galle placed 3rd with a time of 4:08.43.  Cole Reiter helped out our team on the field event side with a 7th place finish in the shot put (39-2).  Darrius Peete high jumped 5-6 and finished 3rd place.  Austin Ribar also participated in the high jump and was in a 3-way tie for 5th with a jump of 5-4.  Aiden Nikolay led the team in the long jump and finished 2nd (20-2).  Connor Warmke jumped 18-6 and got 7th.  Full results can be found on athletic.net.

Also, congratulations to the girls' track and field team on their performance last night at home! Germantown hosted a quadrangular with Cedarburg, Homestead and Menomonee Falls. Everyone did GREAT!
