Ice Bears Hockey got their first win last Friday night against KMMO. It was the first conference game for the team, making it a big win. KMMO struck first, scoring less than 7 minutes into the game. The Bears battled back scoring 3 goals in the first period with one goal coming from Preston Filter and assists coming from Stone Daczka and Preston Filter. KMMO battle back in the next couple periods to tie the game. Less than a minute into overtime, Reid Newkirk found the back of the net for the first Bears win of the season.

On Thursday the Bears played Beaver Dam. The Bears jumped out to a lead in the first period when Stone Daczka scored an even strength goal assisted by Reid Newkirk. The team found themselves in penalty trouble in the 2nd period. Though they killed off both penalties, Beaver Dam was able to score before the player returning from the penalty box could make it to the defensive zone. The third period brought more of the same when a lack of discipline sealed the game for Beaver Dam. The Bears took a total of 9 minutes in penalties in the third period allowing Beaver Dam to score 2 - 5 on 3 goals and another power play goal. Though Reid Newkirk scored a shorthanded goal with 4 and 1/2 minutes left it was not enough to stage a comeback.

Good luck to the Lakeshore Lightning Hockey Team as they take on Fond du Lac at the Ozaukee Ice Center on Saturday, December 9th at noon!
