United Sound is Germantown’s after-school program where band students teach students with special needs how to play band instruments. This week was their first meeting. It was great to see everyone and start to make new friends.

Congratulations to the Wall of Sound for their performance at the WSMA State Marching Band Championships on Saturday. They earned their highest score of the year, 81.056, placing 3rd in AAAA. Their 6th place overall is the highest placement ever for Germantown. The group would like to thank the many parent volunteers who chaperoned, prepared/served food, built props, hauled equipment, and helped the group reach new levels of success. You can still catch the Wall of Sound at the Indoor Showcase on Monday, October 30 at 7:00 pm in the GHS Field House.

On Saturday, October 14th the Varsity Boys' Cross Country Team placed fourth at Conference led by Calvin Redeker (12th), Troy VerStrate (19th), Jack Wanezek (25th), Eric Olson (26th) and Niko Ciardo (37th).

The Junior Varsity Boys finished second, led by Matthew Momper (1st), Brayden Ebli (5th), James Goetter (6th), Emerson Feltz (9th), and Liam Paruch (22nd).

Greater Metro Conference Meet – October 14th, 2023

It was a rainy morning last Saturday, and substantial rains in the preceding days had left a soft and soggy course for the conference meet.  But spirits remained high, and with positive attitudes, the girls gave it their all.  The team saw new PRs by Gracie Ballesteros, Lauren Reineck, Emily Laitinen, Natalia Koritkova, and Cassie Zarder, with a season best from Brooke Jakubowski.  Many other runners were very close to their PRs, and it was only the conditions that prevented them from running faster.

Earning all-conference honors were:

1st Team - Samyiah Fox (7th)

2nd Team – Lizzy Liker (9th)

3rd Team – Kierta Siegert (19th)

3rd Team – Gracie Ballesteros (21st

The varsity team placed 4th, with the JV team placing 2nd.  These were the best team results at the conference meet in quite a while.  In addition, the team closed the gap on some teams that had finished ahead of Germantown in prior meets, and finished ahead of other teams that had beaten Germantown earlier in the season.  Full results can be found at: https://pttiming.com/event.php?mid=1614&pt=results

Those not running in the sectional meet will have another shot at the Rotary Park course in Menomonee Falls on Thursday; sectionals will be held on Saturday at Heritage Trails County Park in Slinger.  The top 2 teams, and the top 5 individual runners not on those teams, will move on to the State Meet in Wisconsin Rapids the following weekend.  Good luck this week to all Germantown runners!
