Hale Invitational – September 1st, 2023

The Germantown Girls' Cross Country team’s 2nd meet of the season was held Friday at Greenfield Park in West Allis.  After really nice weather for most of the week, the heat moved back in with temps 20+ degrees higher than last week.  This, and a more rugged course, caused times to be a little slower than last week.  One of the aspects that separates XC from track is that every course will be different; the terrain, hills, footing, etc. will affect times, while track surfaces are pretty much identical.

Despite those challenges, Alissa Lorbecki and Jordan Knudson ran season best times.  In addition, most of the runners who ran this race last year were significantly faster this year; Lizzy Liker, Samyiah Fox, Elise Redeker, Savannah Wendorf, Grace Pederson, Jordan Knudson, Ava Borchardt, and Cassie Zarder all improved their times on this course.  Medals were awarded for top runners in each race; Lizzy Liker placed 22nd in the varsity race, and Adeline Timm placed 7th in the JV race.

Germantown Boys' Soccer took on Tosa East and 2022 Division 3 champs, New Berlin Eisenhower this week.  Against Tosa East, the team was down in the second half 0-2, but rebounded.  With 15 minutes into the second half, Nick Humphriss hit a screaming shot from the top of the box to make it 1-2.  However, the Warhawks were unable to rally and succumbed to a 1-4 loss at Tosa.  On Thursday, the team hosted the returning D3 champs and played exceptionally well for most of the game.  They were able to maintain possession but were unable to put the ball into the net, losing 0-2.  Next up is a home game against Marquette on Tuesday.  Good luck!

The boys celebrated youth night and parent night at two of their last home games!
