Principal Behrendt spent years believing that accountability was just a harsh word. Though as he has grown as a leader, Principal Behrendt has learned it’s actually an expression of care.
At MacArthur Elementary, we embrace a mantra: "Kids first, always." It’s not just a saying; it’s a commitment to creating a welcoming environment where every child feels at home. From the moment you step through our doors, you sense a tight-knit community: teachers, staff and families working together like one big family.
This year, we’re excited to kick off with a red carpet entrance for our students, celebrating their return with high fives and laughter. It’s these moments that define us: where kids leave for summer, not just happy though also eager to return, knowing they’re part of something special.
As a principal and a dad, Mr. Behrendt wants his own kids—and every student at MacArthur—to feel safe, valued and excited about learning. Because when they love coming to school, that’s when the real growth happens.
