SAP Group (a.k.a. Coping Skills Group)
The Coping Skills Group was formed to help students have a safe and confidential place to discuss their struggles and find support from peers and the group facilitators. The goal of the group is to equip students with strategies to deal with stress and adversity in healthy ways.
Facilitated by Mrs. Mueller (school counselor) and Ms. Kaebisch (school social worker), the group meets during the resource period once a week for eight (8) weeks at the start of a semester.
Group participation is open to all students, however, this is a closed group which means once the group begins meeting no additional members can be added. Group participation is confidential and attendance is taken in Skyward as an excused guidance-related activity.
Some common topics covered during group include dealing with stress or anxiety, friendship issues, improving self-esteem, and anger management. The group members are given a survey and topics are decided by the group members. Many students who have participated in the past have found it to be a rewarding and beneficial experience.
If you have any questions about the group or are interested in joining, please contact Mrs. Mueller in Student Services.

TEEN CONNECTIONS
Teen Connections is a mental health support group that Ms. Kaebisch co-facilitates with a volunteer from NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
The group supports teens who live with a mental health condition or live with someone who has a mental health condition.
The group meets every Monday at GHS and rotates class periods weekly so students aren’t missing the same class each week.
