Germantown High School is proud to announce that seven seniors have been named Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit® Scholarship Program. Marking a milestone in school history, this year’s cohort represents the largest number of Germantown students to receive this prestigious honor in a single year.
The 2027 Germantown High School Semifinalists are:
• Janiru Herath
• Katherine Kazmierczak
• Ivy Kearl
• Josiah Schmidt
• Jay Ticku

The big picture: These students represent less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors and were chosen from a pool of over 1.2 million entrants nationwide based on their 2025 PSAT/NMSQT® scores.

• About 95% of Semifinalists advance to Finalist status after submitting academic records, essays, leadership credentials and endorsing test scores.
• Scholarship winners will be announced in spring 2027.
