I would like to add a “shout-out” to Mrs. Grasse please. She is teaching my daughter virtual this year and I have to say she is doing a fabulous job! As I have listened to her school day proceed while I work at the table with her, I must say that Mrs. Grasse's ability to be calm, encourage and continue to teach and be patient is remarkable! I can’t say thank you enough!

I would like to thank our superintendent for taking the time during this crazy year to encourage some joy, kindness, and positivity within our school district. As our last child in the Germantown District will be graduating this year, I want to thank all the wonderful MacArthur, KMS, and GHS staff members that have touched our family in so many positive ways. The education and guidance our children have received over the past 12 years, and through a pandemic, has surpassed our expectations. YOU are appreciated!

I wanted to take a moment to give a huge shout out to a Germantown High School senior Hayden W.
With all of the snow storms we've had in January and so far this month, he has come over late at night and early in the morning to plow our large driveway. My husband is currently out of town for military training and I work early and long hours downtown. We also have 3 small children so for me to get out and do snow removal can be difficult. It has been such a huge blessing to have him do this for our family, one less thing I need to worry about while I'm holding down the fort alone!
Thank you to Hayden for being such a great kid and great neighbor and thank you to great parents and school systems that help to shape such fine young people!

Our daughter is new to the Germantown school district this year. I would like to give a shout out to her teacher, Mr. Robert Griefenkamp.
This school year has been a challenge in so many ways and he could not have made the transition to entering a brand new school that she literally had never been inside of any easier. Immediately she felt at home and comfortable in his presence. We are so pleased we decided to enroll her in the Germantown school district.
Our daughter also entered the school year with math challenges. It has been an ongoing issue with her for her entire academic career. Not only did Mr. G recognize these challenges immediately, he has gone out of his way, time and time again, to show her many different strategies so that she may be successful in this subject. He has also built up her self confidence in a way that no educator has been able to do in the past. She now enthusiastically approaches her homework and tests because she wants to please him. Though she has a long way to go, I truly believe without his help she’d never come as far as she has in just four short months. If this doesn’t represent what exemplary teaching is I don’t know what possibly will. We are so thankful for Mr. G and all of his help and guidance!

Hello! We are writing to share a shout out for Mr. Bell, Mr. Stone, and Mr. Brooks at GHS. We have two children that are in the High School band and one is taking AP Music Theory. This past spring and the fall of 2020 have been extra hard on the music teachers due to additional restrictions on music making. We are extremely impressed with how all three of these teachers have handled all the changing restrictions dealing with playing and singing. They figured out safe ways to carry on with music even through the changes. Their assignments have been clear and a little flexible with deadlines, which is much appreciated! Great job, and thank you for your dedication to the Germantown student community!

Hello, I would like to give shout outs to three amazing elementary school teachers at County Line!
Mrs. Beeman (music teacher) — Mrs. Beeman organized the County Line Staff Car Parade back in May. The staff all decorated their vehicles and drove through the neighborhoods around the school to see the students and spread some cheer. It was so heartwarming and uplifting during a difficult time when everyone was doing virtual learning. It still brings tears to my eyes and I know it meant a lot to all of the students and their families.
Mrs. Beaudet (kindergarten teacher) — When my daughter had to quarantine and do virtual learning for several weeks, Mrs. Beaudet did an amazing job of "liking" and commenting on my daughter's work in Seesaw every day. I could see on a number of occasions that she was reviewing the work later at night, after working at school all day. It was so encouraging to get timely feedback and hear her positive comments. I truly felt she went above and beyond doing "double duty" to support both the in-person and virtual students.
Mrs. Klumb (3rd grade teacher) — My daughter had to quarantine and do virtual learning for several weeks, including over her birthday. In one of my emails to Mrs. Klumb, I mentioned when my daughter's birthday was. She secretly had the class make beautiful "happy birthday" signs. When my daughter logged in for a Google Meet session, the class surprised her with the signs and all sang happy birthday. It was so thoughtful and totally made my daughter's day! It warms my heart every time I think about it.

Hi! I’d like to take a moment to recognize the Office Staff at County Line School. Kyla, Ruth, and Lisa (so sorry if I’ve missed anyone) have done an AMAZING job of managing all of the logistical items that go through their office on a daily basis. Especially with all the new procedures this year, there are lots of questions and they are always so willing to help whenever I call. Their patience and friendliness are so very much appreciated!

It has been a huge goal of our son's to become a Comet Code Superhero and I can't begin to tell you what that has meant to all of us. He is so humbly proud of himself. Plus, it's given us the opportunity to talk about upholding this title and allowing everyone at County Line to SEE his integrity and positive leadership through his continued safe, respectful, responsible, and caring actions.
One of top things we've always told our kids is, "We don't do something because we want something — we do it because it's the right thing to do." Thank you for all of these lessons you teach in school.
Again, we so sincerely thank you all for rising above this crazy year and continuing to nurture these kids, and allow their development to thrive. In-person school is SOOOO much bigger than academics, and we're beyond grateful that our schools are open.

KMS |

Hello. My four youngest children are still students in Germantown schools, so I have many people to be grateful for, but two stick out to me.
Truly, the 7th grade teachers (and the 6th grade last year) at KMS have been angels as I have battled to keep my son on course with his online responsibilities. The shift to distance learning was rough.
December 11th was a cold, rainy day. My son was agitated and struggling with his clarinet. In a common show of defeat, he slammed the instrument on a chair and stormed out of the room. The clarinet snapped in half.
This was my white flag moment. I was worn out. My son cried in remorse at the broken instrument and in overall frustration. I cried with him. I emailed the band teachers at the school. I was looking for a way to quit Band. Mr. Fox quickly responded saying he had to run an errand and asking if he could add a stop at our house while he was out to talk to my son.
I don't know if he really did have another errand to run, but he took a few very cold and wet moments to reach out. He took the broken instrument and fixed it (a great financial blessing!) over the weekend. That was the last day my son got upset about Band.
Mrs. Shook also reached out and let my son know he was "seen" and more important than the class itself. We didn't quit Band after all and have a new sense of peace and accomplishment. I am very grateful to these two teachers and am still in awe that one of them stood shivering in a mask and shirt sleeves to reach one kid.
Thank you, GSD!

A big shout out to Girls Cross Country Coach Nancy Pietrowiak!
As an incoming freshman in the middle of a pandemic, our daughter was struggling. Add to that a traumatic incident, and we were worried that she wouldn't make it through the semester. However, Coach P was very sympathetic and really helped our daughter work her way through her problems and showed her how to be successful in the face of adversity. She gave our daughter a focus that got her through a terrible fall semester and now she is thriving and on the Honor Roll. Thanks, Coach P!
